Baille metro station

Marseille‘s Baille metro station is on line 1 of the Marseille metro. It is located in the city’s 5th arrondissement, on boulevard Baille, from which it takes its name.

The station is navy blue with several touches of red. White, red and blue-tiled walls with a diagonal square hole house the stairs. Other walls tiled with different patterns are found on the validation floor.

Where does the name come from ?

Marseille’s Baille metro station takes its name from the boulevard Baille on which it is located. Boulevard Baille, in turn, owes its name to Jean-Baptiste Baille, an 18th-century Marseille merchant who was also Portuguese consul in Marseille. The name “Baille” is therefore a reference to this local historical figure.
