Estrangin – Préfecture metro station
Estrangin metro station is part of the Marseille metro network, on line 1, also known as the red line. It is located in the city’s 6th arrondissement, near Cours Pierre Puget.
The station is underground and has two side platforms. It is close to various points of interest, such as the Vieux Port, the Canebière and the lively Cours Julien district.
The entire station is decorated in navy blue and jade green. Blue panels with green running up and down the length of the panels line the tracks. In the middle of these panels are iron walls with an emergency exit door. A gradation of these two colors decorates the entrance panels placed throughout the vault. The floors are covered in white, green and beige tiles. There are two circular hoppers in the ticket hall, and metal covers the front of the stairs leading up to the station.

Where does the name come from ?
The name of Marseille’s “Estrangin” metro station comes from the eponymous rue located near the station. Rue Estrangin is a street in Marseille’s 6th arrondissement, named in honor of the Estrangin family, a notable local family. The choice of street name was extended to the nearby metro station, hence the name “Estrangin” for the metro station.
