Les Sablons metro station

Les Sablons is a Paris metro station, located on line 1. It is located in the commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine, west of Paris, France. Les Sablons is one of the stations closest to the boundary between Paris and Neuilly-sur-Seine. It is named after the district in which it is located, Les Sablons, which is a residential and shopping district.

Les Sablons is a standard station: it has two 105-meter-long platforms separated by the metro tracks, and an elliptical vault. The decoration is in the style used for the majority of metro stations, combined with the specific features of this line since its automation: the lighting strips are white and rounded in the “Gaudin” style of the metro revival of the 2000s, and beveled white ceramic tiles cover the pedestals and spandrels, while the vault is painted white. The advertising frames are in white ceramic, and the station name is written in Parisine typeface on backlit panels incorporated into wood-trimmed boxes. The platforms are equipped with red “Akiko” seats and half-height landing doors.

Anecdotes

It was in this station that Solenn Poivre d’Arvor, daughter of journalist and TV presenter Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, took her own life on January 27, 1995, at the age of 19, by throwing herself under a train, a suicide in the wake of which she became a symbol of the fight against anorexia.

On December 3, 2014, politician and former minister Jacques Barrot died suddenly in this station following a malaise, aged 77.
