The Périer metro station is located in Marseille, France. It is part of the city’s public transport network, operated by the Régie des transports de Marseille (RTM). The station is on line 2 of the Marseille metro, also known as the red line.

Where does the name come from?

Marseille’s Périer metro station takes its name from the boulevard Périer on which it is located. Boulevard Périer, in turn, was named in honor of Casimir Périer, a 19th-century French politician.

Casimir Périer was an influential politician who served as President of the French Council of Ministers from 1831 to 1832. Born in Paris in 1777, he played a key role in consolidating the power of the bourgeoisie and the constitutional monarchy after the French Revolution.

Boulevard Périer, where the eponymous metro station is located, is a major thoroughfare in Marseille’s 8th arrondissement, and its name is a tribute to Casimir Périer in recognition of his historical and political role in France.
